If you aren’t guilty of the crime yourself, you’ve at least lived with
a pack rat who buys a gadget and leaves its box lying around the living
room for ages. HP’s strategy to sell a laptop in a messenger bag would
save you that space — and the environment as well.
Available only at Walmart and Sam’s Club locations, the HP Pavilion
dv6929 comes in a messenger bag made entirely of recyclable materials.
The marketing tactic is part of an effort to lessen the environmental
impact of personal computers by not only reducing packaging materials,
but also the fuel and carbon emissions that trucks would normally
require to deliver boxed notebooks to stores, according to a
SustainableBusiness story.
Sounds green-tastic. And HP is just one of several companies "going green" in the computer industry, as engineers and designers strive to find a balance in making gadgets that are not only smaller and more powerful, but eco-friendly, too.
