Binaural Recording Microphone Has 2 Ears for Stereo Recording!

Binaural Recording Mic

Well, I don’t know if the human ear shape actually helps recording but the Binaural Recording Microphone does look kinda gloomy and cool. At $3,899, we suggest you get this if you have lots of money to burn.

The Binaural Mic from Otokinoko (maker of the Dayon Sound Communicator) is a simple way to record the most realistic sounds possible. Binaural recording allows you to record sounds the same way they are heard in real life by placing the two microphones in the same position as human ears. The resulting playback in omnidirectional 3D sound is more realistic than normal stereo because of the subtle shifts in feeling.

World’s First Projector Cellphone!

Here’s a great lookin’ cellphone that also acts as a small projector for your video files and whatnot.

Anyway, you’re looking at what’s scheduled to be the world’s first projector phone from ChinaKing (aka, CKing). The bits of information we scraped off the machine translated text reveals an LCoS-based projector that relies upon a LED light source and manual focus adjustment. This brick (and we mean brick) is supposedly capable of projecting a 30-inch, 640 x 480 pixel image for up to 2-hours at a time.

Here’s a seat that will follow you everywhere you go.  I’d love to have this whenever I go to the bookstore.

Jelte van Geest , a Dutch designer has created the most imaginative concept that I have ran across in some time. Take A Seat was designed for Openbare Bibliotheek Endhoven. You can check out the chair and it is literally there for you anytime you may need it. If only I could get one of these things to follow me onto the subway!

Garlic Chopper Chops Garlic Easy!

Garlic Chopper Chops Garlic Easy!

I love to cook and since I am an old-school kind-a-guy, I’d never buy something like this to chop garlic as my Chinese butcher knife probably works faster but if you are not such cook-savvy like me, you can buy this garlic chopper to help you chop garlic.

  • Whimsical wheeled gadget chops garlic as it rolls
  • Clear acrylic with stainless-steel blades
  • Place garlic cloves inside, run back and forth on counter
  • Easy to see when chopping is done; no garlic smell on hands
  • Blade unit removes for cleaning; top-rack dishwasher-safe

Joint Sprint, Clearwire Network Could Boost Consumer Power

Sprint Nextel Corp. has finally rounded up the financial backing it needs to build a faster wireless network. But for consumers and the electronics industry, speed may be the least important thing about the new network.

Though specifics are scant, everything points to the new network breaking with the current model of the U.S. wireless industry, where carriers both operate the service and sell the devices that use it.

Right now, when you buy a Sprint phone, you use it on the Sprint network, and Sprint picks the applications, like TV services, that come with the phone.

Sprint has indicated the new network will be run on an “open access” basis, where anyone with a compatible device can connect it.

If everything works well, this could lead to a proliferation of cell phones, Web tablets, computers, TV set-top boxes, GPS devices and gadgets we haven’t even dreamt of. Manufacturers will be free to make gadgets that can ride on the network, without striking a deal with the carrier first.

Rather than buying a cell phone with a monthly minute plan, you could be buying a device that gives you unlimited use of voice-over-Internet services like eBay Inc.’s Skype.

“That’s the real power of having this open access — it unleashes innovation,” said Bob Williams, who tracks telecommunications for the Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports.

For example, Nokia Corp., not Sprint, will be selling the first portable gadget that’s likely to be available for the network. It’s a Web tablet that looks like an oversize iPhone and costs about $500.

You’ll buy it without a contract, and when the WiMAX network is available, the device will tell you, much like a laptop will alert you when Wi-Fi is available. You’ll then have the option to sign up for an Internet plan through the Web browser.

Push Email Coming To iPhone

photo.jpgApple’s assault on the Blackberry market takes another step forward. According to an anonymous reader of The Unofficial Apple Weblog, .Mac accounts will offer push email, Crackberry-style, in the upcoming 2.0 software.

As you can see in the screenshot, there is a new “Fetch New Data” preference. Here it is set to “Push”. The other option is “Fetch”. The magic behind the curtain we don’t know. It could be just IMAP Idle support, which lets the email server tell the client when there is a new message to collect, or it could be some fancy jiggery-pokery exclusive to the .Mac service. What with this and Exchange support, the iPhone is becoming a serious alternative to the businessman’s pacifier. All it needs now is a real keyboard.
